The assistance device (1) has an image-capturing device (3) i.e. video camera, for region-wise detection of a traffic area (6), and an image reproduction device (10) for playback of an image representation. The playback of the image representation is performed on an outer surface (11) of a car, where the assistance device is formed in an operating mode for playback of a region of the detected traffic room and in another operating mode for playback of the image representation by the image reproduction device. The outer surface is provided area by area at the back of the car.
