The method involves removing the sub stream of the hydrocarbon-rich fraction before supplying the hydrocarbon-rich fraction to be undercooled in the wound heat exchanger (E,E1,E2). The cooling agent mixture, which is cooled together with the hydrocarbon-rich fraction to be undercooled in the wound heat exchanger, is laid back and is separated in a liquid phase (12) and a gas phase (13).
