The method involves generating voltage pulses with a periodic control signal (1), and applying the voltage pulses to a thermal resistor. A periodic voltage signal is generated from the control signal and is applied on at an input of a comparator (3). A voltage signal of a temperature sensor (5) is applied at another input of the comparator. Output signals of the comparator and the control signal are generated using the voltage pulses, where the beginning and the end of the voltage pulses are preset by the respective output signals of the comparator. An independent claim is also included for a heater comprising a temperature sensor.
