The plant (1) comprises an inlet (11) for water to be purified, a cleaning unit (5) formed for reducing the contamination load flowing through the cleaning unit, an ultraviolet (UV)-irradiation device (17) having an UV-emitting light source, which is formed for irradiating the water flowing through the UV-irradiation device, an outlet, over which the resulting ultra-pure water is tapped from the plant, and a conducting system, which conducts the water from the inlet towards the outlet under the interconnection of cleaning unit and the UV-irradiation device. The plant (1) comprises an inlet (11) for water to be purified, a cleaning unit (5) formed for reducing the contamination load flowing through the cleaning unit, an ultraviolet (UV)-irradiation device (17) having an UV-emitting light source, which is formed for irradiating the water flowing through the UV-irradiation device, an outlet, over which the resulting ultra-pure water is tapped from the plant, and a conducting system, which conducts the water from the inlet towards the outlet under the interconnection of cleaning unit and the UV-irradiation device. The UV-emitting light source is an UV-LED. The UV-LED partially protrudes in the water flowing through the UV-irradiation device. The UV-irradiation device comprises several UV-LED, which are arranged next to each other and are rotatably arranged adjacent or opposite to each other regarding the cross-section of the conducting part of the UV-irradiation device flowing from the water. The UV-irradiation device comprises a measuring device and a control unit, where the measuring device is formed to determine total organic carbon content or the volume flow and the control unit is formed to regulate the irradiation intensity of the UV-irradiation device in dependent of the determined total organic carbon content or the volume flow. The UV-irradiation device includes irradiation chambers, which are arranged to each other in series, where the UV-LED is arranged in the irradiation chambers. The UV-LED of the UV-irradiation device is arranged in a flowing dead space of a connecting part, a cartridge input or cartridge output, a valve, a sensor or a pump (15). The UV-LED of the irradiation device is formed in such a way that it emits UV-light with a wavelength of 254 nm, 280 nm, 310 nm or 340 nm or 180-220 nm. The UV-irradiation device comprises two light sources emitting UV-light with different wavelength, where one light source emitting UV-light is the UV-LED. The plant has a replaceable cartridge. An independent claim is included for a cartridge useful in a plant for producing ultra-pure water.
