The device has an integrated circuit comprising a ferroelectric RAM memory (10) and an integrated capacitor (12) that is connected between a power supply (20) for the RAM memory and an earth. The capacitor has capacitance that is sufficient to store charge necessary for complete reading-write back-cycle of the RAM memory. A switch (16) is connected between the power supply and the capacitor and designed to decouple the capacitor from the power supply. An access controller (18) is connected with the switch and a charge detector (14), where the circuit has another integrated capacitor. An independent claim is also included for a method for allowing read access to a ferroelectric RAM memory on an integrated circuit.
