The method involves providing a control loop with a controlled system (G) and a state controller (R). Weight functions are provided for designing the state controller, where the functions describe desired characteristics of a maximum singular value. Parameters of the weight functions are defined by a scalar default value, which is a measure for robustness of a control loop in relation to changes of the controlled system, and another scalar default value, which determines reduction of the variable disturbances in the control loop. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for reduction of structure oscillations of a component of a controlled system (2) a control unit with a state controller.
