The present invention relates to a method and a device for the structuring of inherent strength nonwoven fabrics having by means of water jets. In this case, a nonwoven fabric continuously over guide rolls and structuring elements guided in the case of operating speed. By reduction of the operating speed to amplitude while maintaining a basic speed, deactivation of the water jet applicators and transport of this, as well as of the guide rolls in the passage position, the structuring elements is to be exchanged, without the production plant has to be stopped. Finally, the water jet applicators and the guide rolls is moved in a working position, is activated and the plant again brought to operating speed of amplitude.
