The device comprises a section through which a melt flows into the mold, an inlet (8) over which the melt flows to the section, and a flow resistance unit such as a tapering insert (22) arranged in the inlet or the section. The flow resistance unit is dissolvable when it contacts with the melt during the filling process. The insert contains the same material as that of the melt. An outer region (28) of the insert is arranged in a groove (14) of the inlet or the section. The insert is arranged in depth of the inlet. The insert has different mass distribution in radial direction. The device comprises a section through which a melt flows into the mold, an inlet (8) over which the melt flows to the section, and a flow resistance unit such as a tapering insert (22) arranged in the inlet or the section. The flow resistance unit is dissolvable when it contacts with the melt during the filling process. The insert contains the same material as that of the melt. An outer region (28) of the insert is arranged in a groove (14) of the inlet or the section. The insert is arranged in depth of the inlet. The insert has different mass distribution in radial direction. A central cross-section of the insert is formed through a wall (30) having a constant thickness (1 mm), which is less than the thickness of the surrounding region.
