The device has a camera (10) for imaging an environment on detectors (14) e.g. three color detector and four color detector, and an optical eyepiece (2) with a display unit (22) for representing surrounding of a vehicle in the image. A process unit (20) generates the image on the display unit from image signals of the detectors. A body holder (4) carries the display unit before a eye (8) of an observer with a movement of the observer. The process unit detects laser radiation and identifies the radiation in the image.
