The mechanism (1) has an upper couch part (4) moved vertically relative to a bottom frame (3). Lifting columns (5, 6, 7) comprise a threaded spindle bar (10) driven by an electric drive motor. The spindle bar is screwed into a threaded nut. The threaded nut is connected with the couch part in a torque-proof manner. The threaded spindle bar is formed as a ball screw shaft, and the threaded nut is formed as a ball circulating nut. The ball screw shaft has a spindle portion at an upper end, in which the spindle portion cooperates with the circulating nut by balls.
