The cross beam (10) comprises a cross beam portion (12), which is a made of metallic material, and a plastic portion (26), which is complemented to a hybrid component. A connecting unit (28,30,32,33,34,36,38,40) is provided, which is formed by the plastic portion, by which the cross beam is connected with a body pillar, particularly an A-pillar, and with an instrument panel of the body.
