The method involves selectively reducing injection depth of an injection spray of an injector for certain injection process by setting injector needle stroke against normal operation such that a throttle gap (3) is partially opened. The injection process is performed during cold start and/or warming of a combustion engine for regeneration of a particulate filter of the combustion engine. A common rail with same rail pressure is inserted into the engine, where the engine comprises the injector that is provided with an injector needle (1) and an injector housing (6).
