The hydraulic servo steering system (2) has a pumping unit (4) for generating volume flow- and pressure pulsation. The pumping unit is connected with a hydraulic medium container (18) through an input line (16) and with a steering valve (30) through an output line (22). An adjustable flow valve (24) is arranged in the output line and a control device (52) is provided for controlling the flow valve. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hydraulic servo steering system.
