The instrument i.e. rhexis marker (1), has a grasp portion (2) and a marking portion (7). The marking portion comprises a marking ring (5) with a marking edge that is decolored when the edge is placed on cornea. The marking edge is provided with projecting and recessed areas for dye absorption toward the cornea. The edge is attached with a radially directed degree mark (60) that comprises a zero-mark. The zero-mark is arranged toward a connection piece (3) and attached with the marking portion and the grasp portion.
