The components (10a, 10b) have carrier bodies (12a, 12b) whose top faces are formed with wear layers (14a, 14b) e.g. plastic covers. The wear layers are immovably arranged on a flat surface in a direction parallel to a base to form a gap-free surface area. The wear layers are made of wood, carpet, plastic, ceramic, stone, laminate, cork, metal and linoleum. Recesses are formed on lower sides of the carrier body such that the neighboring carrier bodies are fastened together by using a bracket extended into the recesses. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a covering.
