The table (1) has a position measuring device (3) comprising optical sensors (5, 6) arranged at sides (4) of the table, and position-fixed light sources (7-9) i.e. line lasers, for generating light planes cutting in a point, where the light planes stay perpendicular to each other. Position of the table relative to the point and spatial position of the table are determined based on position of the table relative to the planes determined by the sensors. The sensors are arranged at a distance to each other in a horizontal direction and designed as position sensitive device-sensors.
