The system (1) has a compounding device (3) e.g. twin screw extruder, for producing a plastic strand (2), and a measurement device (28) arranged downstream to the compounding device in a direction of transport (8) of the plastic strand. A press member e.g. printing roller, is arranged opposite to a back pressure element e.g. back pressure roller, relative to the strand to test a pressing force on the strand. A control device (7) determines printing properties of the strand of material index from a measurement signal.
