The method involves actuating a pressure medium supply pump after recognizing a downward gradient trip or an upward gradient trip such that for that the driving of a supply pressure of a motor vehicle gear is prevented under a minimum pressure value. A main pump and an auxiliary pump are formed as the pressure medium supply pump. An automatic gear is formed as the motor vehicle gear. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle with a hybrid drive strand.
