The method involves identifying a motor car (KFZ) based on a car-specific feature i.e. car identification number, by a server (S). A random value is generated by the server and is transferred to the identified motor car. The random value is output by an output device (A) of the motor car to a car owner (FZH). The random value is entered into an input field of an account by the car owner. The car owner is authenticated by comparing the entered random value with the generated random value. A car-specific account is generated by assigning the motor car to the account.
