The relay connector has a plug connector housing (21) and/or a socket housing (11) with cylindrical connector mounting areas, respectively. Cable sheathing areas (2a, 2b) are connected to a plug connector (20) and a socket (10). A sleeve (30) is mounted such that the sleeve covers peripheries of the mounting areas and a mantle area of a cable that is connected to a connector, where the mantle area of the cable is not introduced into a rear end of each mounting area. External and internal covering elements (41, 42) are provided for securing the sleeve from the peripheries.
