Rubber composition comprises 100 mass parts of diene rubber and 70-100 mass parts of silica, where: the diene rubber contains 50-90 wt.% of end group modified styrene butadiene rubber having a hydroxy group at one end of the molecule, and 10-25 wt.% of a butadiene rubber; the silica has Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area of 45-550 m 2/kg, a cetyltrimethylammonium bromide specific surface area of 40-525 m 2/kg and a particle-size distribution width of at least 0.91; and the durometer hardness of the composition measured at 20[deg] C is 70-80.
