The method involves retaining a work-piece (20) by a positioning device (12), and aligning the work-piece with respect to a holding device (11). A de-burring device (13) is arranged on the holding device. The work-piece is de-buried by the de-burring device, and electromagnetic field is generated during de-burring of the work-piece by the de-burring device. A ridge is separated from the work-piece by the electromagnetic field. A magnetic force is acted on the ridge. The holding unit is arranged with de-burring device. An independent claim is also included for a device for de-burring a component from electrical conductive material.
