The box has a magnetization device (9) immediately pressing a belt (8) i.e. endless belt, at a conically running outer jacket (3) of rotatable cone drums (1, 2) and increasing frictional engagement between the cone drums and the belt. A guide device (11) adjustably axially guides the belt. Effective friction radii of the belt at the cone drums are changed by axial displacement of the guide device so that a transmission ratio of the gear box is steplessly adjusted. The cone drums are made of non-magnetizable material.
