The method involves realizing an electrical connection by electrical contacting of a vehicle connection unit i.e. connector (21), of a vehicle with a charging station connection unit i.e. connector support (22), of a charging station. Locking state of a lock between the vehicle connection unit and the charging station connection unit is detected. A connection state of the electrical connection is detected. An automatic detection is made to determine whether unauthorized separation of electrical connection lies based on the locking state and the connection state. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting unauthorized separation of an electrical connection between an energy storage of a vehicle and an electrical charging station.
