The portable device has two telescoping slittings which are spaced apart from each other and plate-like elements (3-8) which are movable relative to each other between the slittings. The plate-like elements are assigned with two identical telescopic sections (9) of the slittings. The telescopic sections of the slittings interlock in tubular manner. Cross beams (10-16) are provided at end of each next smaller telescopic section for the plate-like elements.
