The connecting bolts for the side-plates (10, 11) in the chain (8) for driving the roller bars (5) for supporting the press belts against press plates are formed by bearing sleeves (12) for the bolts (7) acting as bearings for the bars. A degree of play (S) is present between the sleeves and bearing bolts. The press comprises upper and lower parts each containing an endless steel belt supported against a press plate by roller bars. The chains comprise overlapping inner and outer side-plates connected via bolts.
