The ball drive is designed as a nut with an inner thread moved along a threaded bar. The nut is provided with several diagonally positioned slots, each accommodating a return element comprising three balls which are guided along the thread located at the bar. The openings are created by a tool (18) to be inserted into the nut and provided with several radial movable punching elements (19) acting in combination with a matrix (21) in order to insure a smooth edge.
