Composition comprises one or more oxidation bases comprising 2-[[2-(4-amino-phenylamino)-ethyl]-(2-hydroxy-ethyl)-amino]-ethanol (I) or its acid addition salts; and one or more nonionic, anionic or cationic associative polymer, in a medium. Independent claims are included for: (1) a composition contains one or more additional oxidation bases different from (I) and their salts; (2) dyeing keratin fibers, comprising applying composition on the keratin fibers optionally with oxidizing agent; and (3) multi-compartment device comprising: either a first compartment containing one or more oxidation bases containing (I), one or more nonionic, anionic or cationic associative polymers, optionally one or more couplers and optionally one or more additional oxidation bases different from (I); and second compartment comprising a composition comprising one or more oxidizing agents; or a first compartment containing one or more oxidation bases containing (I), optionally one or more additional oxidation bases different from (I), and optionally one or more couplers; a second compartment containing a composition comprising one or more nonionic, anionic or cationic associative polymer; and third compartment containing one or more oxidizing agents.
