The apparatus has a welded mechanical type rigid frame (1) for holding a vertical rigid positioning body (2). An actuation and guiding unit (3) actuates and guides a cutting body (4). The cutting body is moved between a withdrawal position and a cutting position. The actuation and guiding unit is remote from the body, and is developed entirely above the cutting body. The cutting body is remote from the body and placed at height level same as that of an upper end of the body in the withdrawal position. An independent claim is also included for an asparagus collecting machine comprising a platform.
