The method involves unrolling a flexible cover (1) by injection of compressed air into inflatable flexible tubes (4) that are integrated to the cover and extended from one end to another end of the cover, where the injection of compressed air is carried out from a distal end (1a) of each inflation tube. The cover is rolled on a tubular rolling shaft (2) by pressing the inflatable tubes against the rolling shaft and by locating the inflatable tubes with respect to exterior using air exhaust devices so as to allow deflation of the tubes. An independent claim is also included for a small fruit harvesting machine comprising a device for collecting small fruits from fruit trees or shrubs.
