The compressor has a rotor (2) driven by a shaft (3) and comprising blades (5) to compress an air flow from upstream to downstream in the compressor. A compressor casing (1) covers the rotor. An abradable layer is placed on the casing, and limits circulation of the flow of air between the casing and the rotor, where the abradable layer includes two distinct abradables (11, 21) that are separated by a separation groove i.e. circumferential groove (31). One of the abradables is placed upstream of the other abradable. An independent claim is also included for a method for depositing an abradable layer on a compressor casing that covers a rotor.
