The invention relates to a device for assisting the practice of a physical activity session by an individual. It presents electronic means for the determination of the physical effort in real time, to be provided by said individual during said session, implementing a control law having for output a parameter corresponding to said physical effort to provide (EPF) and for signals input of the data collected during the effort, consisting essentially of: - measurement of the heart rate (HR) of said individual, - measurement of the respiratory rate (RF) of said individual, - one or more indices (s) ( EVA) hardness of the effort perceived by said individual and wherein said control law depends essentially on programmed respective thresholds, not to be exceeded consisting essentially of: - the maximum heart rate (HR), - the maximum respiratory rate (FR ), - the maximum value (s) associated with the said hardness index (s).
