The device (5) has a camera (6) e.g. stereoscopic camera, provided with an optic and an image sensor. A light guiding installation (8) e.g. mirror or prism, is fixed on an inner face (2a) of a windscreen (2) of a vehicle (1), and deviates light (10) from a capturing zone (9) toward the camera. The camera receives the light from the capturing zone. The capturing zone is located in front of the windscreen in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The installation is transparent for a driver of the vehicle. Another light guiding installation directs the light guided by the former installation.
