The thermal protection device comprises a thermal mattress (MLI) with alternating sheets (1INT, 1EXT, 2), and spacers (3) of insulating material. The sheets comprise a thermoplastic film material resistant to a temperature above 150[deg] C, single metallization layer, an internal sheet present in side of the satellite, an external sheet in opposite side of the satellite, and an intermediate sheet between internal and external sheets. The metallization layer is present on a surface opposite to the surfaces of the satellite. The external sheet has a specularity of lower than 70%. The thermal protection device comprises a thermal mattress (MLI) with alternating sheets (1INT, 1EXT, 2), and spacers (3) of insulating material. The sheets comprise a thermoplastic film material resistant to a temperature above 150[deg] C, single metallization layer, an internal sheet present in side of the satellite, an external sheet in opposite side of the satellite, and an intermediate sheet between internal and external sheets. The metallization layer is present on a surface opposite to the surfaces of the satellite. The external sheet has a specularity of lower than 70%. The thermoplastic material allows flow of electrostatic charges for protection of thermal mattress, and has a volume resistivity of lower than 10 17omega cm and a tear resistance of greater than 4 N/mm for a thickness of 50 mu m. The sheets are connected by thermo-adhesion or other thermal process.
