The device has a guide rail (2) i.e. lower rail, for receiving rollers (5) that are integrated to a lateral sliding door (6). An application unit applies stress on a part of the rail to move the rail such that the part of the rail contacts with the rollers when the sliding side door is closed. A spring forming element of the application unit is arranged between a fixed part (3) with respect to a vehicle body and the part of the rail. An elastic strip (8) and a helical spring are provided in the spring forming element.
