The device has a control circuit controlling an opening of FET transistors (2a, 2b, 3a, 3b) in a separate and complete manner during short impulsion to limit power to terminals of current measuring elements (1a, 1b) e.g. resistors. The measuring elements are associated to a voltage measuring circuit to measure voltage at terminals of the measuring elements. A synchronizing circuit controls the FET transistors with respect to given voltage. A signaling element (9) displays status of the device. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting current imbalance and over-current of a differential switch.
