The instrument has a surgical needle for penetrating into animal body tissues e.g. veins, and a flexible filamentous material attached to the needle by its distal end. Shape of the needle is varied along length of a trenchant point by expanding the length of the needle such that the needle is penetrated into the tissues. The material is shaped to form a noose around the tissues during surgery. The needle is in the shape of a harpoon. The material is a surgical thread for suturing in the body tissues after utilization.
