The heater has a heating body (1) circulating coolant i.e. water associated with an antifreeze. A lower compartment (3) of the body comprises coolant inlet and outlet units e.g. lower and upper connection orifices (13, 14), connected to a domestic heating circuit (16). Inlet and outlet units are arranged in lower and upper zones of the compartment. A heat exchanger (7) of a heat pump circuit is arranged in the lower zone. Another heat exchanger (11) is arranged on the former exchanger and connected to a heating system (12) i.e. fossil energy heating system. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a thermal installation comprising a connection unit (2) a method for controlling a heat exchanger of a thermal installation.
