The method involves correcting the non uniformity of each of pixels of thermal images. Local extremum pixels in the images are detected by comparing a value of the extremum pixels relative to a value of proximate neighboring pixels. A pitch of an offset value of the detected local extremum pixels is modified in the inverse direction at the space with respect to the neighbor spaces, and the modified offset value is protected in an offset correction table. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for correcting the non uniformity of matrix detectors (2) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for performing a non uniformity correcting method.
