The method involves establishing a relation between potential measurements of metal in a solution and absorbent solutions and known charge rate of the solutions. The unit for measuring potential of the metal in the solution is made to contact an unknown charge rate absorbent solution, and the corrosion or oxidation-reduction potential of the unknown charge rate absorbent solution is measured. The acid gas charge rate of the absorbent solution is determined using measured unknown charge rate absorbent solution potential value and the established relation. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a gas charge deacidification process.
