The device (30) has two disks (34, 36) that are centered and mounted in rotation around a rotational axis (38), where the axis traverses a longitudinal arm (32). The disks are mounted at two sides of the arm so as to form a pulley wheel to receive a cable of a cable saw. The rotational axis is perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the longitudinal arm. Distance between the rotational axis and an end of the arm is less than or equal to diameter of the disks. An independent claim is also included for a cable saw comprising a driving unit for driving a cable.
