The method involves stopping rotation of a chuck (1) in a determined angular adjusting position such that direction of displacement of a jaw (2) to be regulated is parallel to one of displacement axes of a machine tool. The jaw is unlocked from a slide of a body of the chuck by a movable and automatic unlocking device (3). Unlocking and displacement devices utilized for unlocking and displacement of the jaw and an operating device utilized for operating the chuck of the machine tool are withdrawn. An independent claim is also included for an automatically adjusting installation comprising an unlocking device.
