A rotary cutting head using flexible cutting wire strands implantable within said cutting head, the clamping mechanism of which comprises clamping cams (17) mounted with pivoting ability in planes parallel to each other and to the axis of rotation (AA) of the cutting head, and in that the support of the clamping mechanism (2) is mounted with axial translation ability in the outer casing (1) of the cutting head, the latter and the support of the clamping mechanism (2) being arranged complementarily, so that the simultaneous application of a counter-clockwise relative axial movement (F1, F2) to said outer casing (1) and to said clamping mechanism support (2) ) allows: - either to lift the clamping cams (17) so as to allow positioning, unwinding or withdrawal of the cutting strands, - or to lower the said cams (17) in order to achieve the blocking of the cutting strands in the cutting head .
