The apparatus (10) has a fixed contact (1) collaborated with a mobile contact (2). A return spring (6) and a pressure contact spring (7) generate forces to displace a mobile cylinder head (3) from an opening position to a closing position. A control unit comprises an adjusting unit that adjusts tension applied to a control coil (5), where the tension is modulated in frequency around proper resonance frequency proportional to the square root of a relationship between sum of stiffnesses of the springs and equivalent mass of a mobile assembly of an electromagnetic actuator. An independent claim is also included for a method for opening an electromagnetic switching apparatus.
