The switchgear has an earthing switch (4) comprising a mobile grounding contact (18) sliding in or around a fixed grounding contact (16) along a longitudinal axis. An axial displacement device (26) has a drive shaft (36) traversing a metal envelope containing pressurized gas i.e. sulfur hexafluoride, and connected to an actuating mechanism that is arranged outside the envelope. The displacement device has a lever (38) rotatably connected to the drive shaft, and a connecting rod (40) rotatably articulated on the lever and the mobile grounding contact.
