The method involves defining a target spatial zone (160) corresponding to a spatio-temporal part to be accessed. Compressed data corresponding to a spatial selection zone (170) in an image i.e. I-type image, of a video sequence are obtained, where the spatial selection zone is provided with the target spatial zone. Updating information of the spatial selection zone is obtained for selecting compressed data in a subsequent image i.e. P-type image, of the video sequence, where the information is a decoding function of the obtained compressed data corresponding to the spatial selection zone.
