A hands-free Plasterer's Hawk B10/B or mortar board is disclosed comprising: a flat surface; a belt B20/B, adapted to be placed on / around the plasterer's B18/B body; and provided with a location; and a member B13/B fast with the flat surface and adapted to fit in the location. When the member B13/B, fast with the flat surface, is fitted into the location, the flat surface is aligned firmly in an essentially horizontal attitude extending away from the plasterer's B18/B body, i.e. effectively creating a 'table' attached to the Plasterers side. Ideally, the belt B20/B is around the Plasterers waist and means are provided stop the surface from moving in an uncontrolled manner as the Plasterer moves about, e.g. walks around, climbs ladders, etc. Additionally, the surface may be adapted to provide drawers, shelves or other containers for use with other operations, e.g. electrical maintenance. The apparatus allows workers to carry tools and materials to workplaces, while having two hands free to assist that in reaching that workplace safely, i.e. without requiring the use of a hand to support or control the hawk, thus leaving two hands free for climbing ladders, using high-level staging, etc. Conversely, it also allows persons with only one functioning arm to undertake work, which would otherwise be beyond them, e.g. plastering.
