A system for allocation resources to a computational request received from a user comprises an interface for receiving the job from the user, an estimator unit and a feedback module. The estimator unit is configured to estimate the time required to perform the received request. The feedback unit receives feedback from existing resources as to their availability, the feedback including an estimation of the time required to complete computations currently assigned to them. The system then combines the information to allocate the resources to the request. Request may be placed in a queue until an existing resource becomes available. New resources may be initiated when existing resources are insufficient. The system may also comprise a database for storing information from the feedback unit and resources available to the system. Estimates may be an initialization estimate or a final estimate. An estimate may also be made of the number of iterations required to complete a task
