The baseline distance (d,d') between the cameras may be varied on a sliding portion of a rig (220), depending on the size of the display screens. A controller (400) is also disclosed, comprising an activation unit operable to activate each camera in a predetermined sequence corresponding to the sequence of operation of shutter glasses used to view the stereoscopic images. Current 3D films for cinemas have a negligible 3D effect when downsized for TV use, but using three cameras with different baselines means that 3D video for both cinema screens and home 3D TVs can be captured at the same time.
