PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly correct main scanning magnification without deteriorating printing quality.;SOLUTION: An image processing circuit 2107 converts an input image signal into pixel data for forming an electrostatic latent image corresponding to one pixel. The pixel data are data of a plurality of bits, and include at least either first bit data for turning on a light source or second bit data for turning off the light source. When inserting or deleting the bit data, if the number of bits of the first bit data included in the pixel data is larger than the number of bits of the second bit data, the image processing circuit inserts or deletes the same bit data as the first bit data in/from the pixel data, and, if the number of bits of the first bit data included in the pixel data is smaller than the number of bits of the second bit data, the image processing circuit inserts or deletes the same bit data as the second bit data in/from the pixel data adjacent to the pixel data, thereby making the input image signal into a corrected image signal.
